There are many ways to get involved
If you’d like to volunteer with DEXA but are concerned you don’t have what it takes, we want you to know we welcome anyone who has the desire to help. In fact, most of the people who’ve gone with us to Haiti did not have a specific skill set, but they did have a strong hope to make a difference. Our on-the-job training helps our volunteers get oriented to their work with us.
Anyone with specific skills, including electricians, plumbers, builders and other constructing trades, are of great value in Haiti. We need people with IT (informational technology) skills because we are organizing teams to work with and teach hospital administrators, nurses, doctors and technical staff. This would include installing software and networking the computers within the hospital. If you’re skilled in marketing, social media, IT or fundraising, we’d love to talk with you about how you can make a difference. Very importantly, anyone who has any kind of a medical background would be of great benefit to the hospital.
Volunteer For A Trip
Every year DEXA sponsors an eye trip to Dessalines Haiti. We need volunteers willing to help by guiding the patients to where they need to be, giving some simple tests with the help of a interpreter, sort glasses, help people when selecting glasses etc. These trips are usually 7-10 days. Currently the cost is $1600 per person and includes airfare food and lodging. If you are interested in knowing more simply fill out this application and send it in. We will be contacting you!
